Hope Restored Counseling Services has been in business since 2008, so don’t be misled by practices that are using a similar name. Our practice is built on ethics, integrity and a proven reputation. We provide therapy to individuals, couples and families, and we continue to grow in both size and capabilities. We have also established a variety of groups to address the various needs of our clients. We counsel children, adolescents and adults in order to address issues including, but not limited to, depression, anger, anxiety, grief and loss, substance abuse and spectrum disorders. All of our therapists are experienced, professional, and consistently develop strong bonds with those who seek our services. Hope Restored Counseling Services. Hope for Today, Change for Tomorrow.

Tonya Schaeffer

M.Ed., LPCC

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), and I earned my Masters of Education from Xavier University. I have more than 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples and families.

My goal as a counselor is to create a supportive environment in which my clients can begin to understand their struggles, while also discovering what barriers may exist that are affecting their lives. Many of the clients I assist are working through various life challenges, including anxiety, depression or grief. Others need guidance around relationship difficulties, substance abuse or anger.

My approach is warm, non-judgmental, conversational and solution-focused. Using Cognitive Therapy, Reality Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), I focus on the here and now to help my clients find solutions. Clients who visit my office find a very comfortable atmosphere that offers a safe, supportive place to talk. Flexible appointment times are available to address these issues.

Maggie Gehler

M.A., LPCC

I earned my Master of Arts in Agency & Community Counseling from Xavier University, and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wittenberg University. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), and I have worked in the mental health field for nearly 15 years.

I believe that each person has the power to make positive choices and the ability to transform one’s own life. My goal is to facilitate growth through a caring approach that balances processing core issues, exploring feelings and making a plan for change. Therapy is a collaborative process and through hope and hard work, personal goals can be realized.

I have therapeutic experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Additionally, I specialize in treating individuals and families attempting to cope with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, autism spectrum disorders and anxiety. Conflict is common in families, and I focus on helping families improve their pattern of communication and put into practice more effective coping strategies.
